Douglass SBD Dauntless Dive Bomber

The Dauntless dive bomber was the US Navy’s primary dive bomber from the mid-1940s until late 1943, It was involved from the start of the United States’ Pacific Campaign. The Dauntless’ first time in combat occurred at the Battle of Coral Sea where the Dauntless played a significant role in the sinking of the Japanese carrier Shoho. At the Battle of Midway, the Dauntless was not as effective as it was at Coral Sea, but did play a role in helping to defeat the Japanese forces.

Mitsubishi A6M Zero Fighter

The Mitsubishi Zero was used by the Japanese Navy from 1940 to 1945. At the time it was introduced, the Zero was the best carrier-based fighter in the world and was greatly feared by Allied pilots. However, by 1944, the Zero was rendered obsolete by newer American planes. It was then retired to by used by the scores of volunteer kamikaze pilots During Battle of Midway, Zeros were used extensively against the Americans.
